A Commitment to Quality in the Handmade Tradition
Buck Creek Pottery pieces are individually crafted using the potters wheel, extruder, and slab roller.
A professional potter since 1979, Laura's traditional wheel made work displays her command of the art of "throwing", creating work on the wheel. David's uniquely designed extruder dies and slab built forms add to the visual and functional interest of the Buck Creek Pottery line.
All of our work is handcrafted without the use of ram presses, slip cast molds, or preformed bisque ware. We make every piece ourselves and pay careful attention to the quality of the ware every step of the way.
After the pottery is made and trimmed, it is fired in a bisque kiln to prepare the surface for the final glaze application. Each piece is coated with lead free glaze and hand-painted with original motifs inspired by the surrounding garden and woodlands of our Oregon home.
The pottery is fired for 10 hours in our large brick kiln where temperatures reach 2300 degrees F., ensuring durability and enhancing the bright porcelain like surface.
The final products are safe for use with all foods, ovenproof, microwave and dishwasher safe.
